Coast lovers wanted to visit Cleethorpes


Located on the east coast of England, the charming resort of Cleethorpes is perfect for coast lovers. Whatever kind of coast you’re looking for, you’ll find it here.

Coastal nature time … enjoy stunning vistas of our beaches, perfect for bird watching, walking and cycling. Bringing the binoculars is a must, there’s so much to observe on our coastline, from ships and watercraft passing by the migratory birds and other wildlife.

Coastal adventure time … for water sports enthusiasts, choose from stand up paddleboarding, kite surfing and sea dips and swims. Although we’re not really touristy, we’ve still got the traditional seaside activities to enjoy with golden sands that stretch over four miles, donkey rides and candyfloss, and fun for all the family.

Coastal holiday time … a visit is definitely worth more than just a daytrip. There’s so much to do. Explore coast to countryside over two, three or four days (or even more) and get to know all the hidden gems that the locals and regular visitors love. It’s easy to get around with great motor and rail links or try two wheels, we’ve lots of ideas for cycle routes.

With over four miles of golden sandy beaches, you can experience the Cleethorpes seaside your way. Head to the quieter areas at Marine Embankment or Humberston Fitties beach which are bustling with nature and wildlife, or make it a traditional holiday with sandcastles, paddling in the tide, and 99’s along the Central Prom. Perfect for coastal me time.

Coastal Adventure Time – enjoy the outdoors and being active

With the Lincolnshire Wolds on our doorstep, you can walk, run, or cycle through miles of awe-inspiring countryside. Venture through charming villages or the town centres of Grimsby and Cleethorpes for a spot of lunch or for coffee and cake and rest awhile before continuing with your tour. We’ve a number of routes to walk or cycle to help you explore. Prefer to be out on the water? Cleethorpes’ water sports scene is vibrant. Stop by North Prom or along Brighton Slipway for stand-up paddle boarding experiences. Learners and families welcome. Or head to the beach at the Fitties to join the kitesurfing community.

With lovely sandy beaches, traditional seaside favourites, great attractions and a wide range of places to stay, Cleethorpes is perfect for coastal holiday time and making memories with your family.

Families love to stay and play at Haven’s Thorpe Park holiday park with its lazy river, space bowl flume, indoor splash zone pool, activity range, golf course and entertainment venue. For those staying off park, Cleethorpes Leisure Centre offers indoor pools and more. No visit is without a ride aboard the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway, who have been delighting young and old for 75 years. Master the mini golf courses as there are several to choose from and meet the animals at Nunny’s Farm.

In neighbouring Grimsby, there’s the award winning Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre to explore, taking you back to the life of our trawlermen and their families both at home and at sea.

Coastal heritage time – explore unique experiences

Truly unique to Grimsby is a tour of a traditional dockside smokehouse. Alfred Enderby, on the Port of Grimsby, welcomes visitors to see the expertise passed down from generation to generation that creates Grimsby Traditional Smoked Haddock, which has Protected Geographical Status. Book your tour or organise a group visit.

Next up is a visit to a ‘theatre of beer’ at Docks Beers, with their artisan brewery tour. Go behind the scenes of the much-loved brewery and enjoy a selection of drinks in the taproom.

Over in Immingham, you can learn about the town’s significant role in the voyage of the Mayflower Pilgrims with a heritage trail taking you from Immingham Museum through to Mayflower Woods.

Plan your trip around great events taking place. Check out our calendar of events and social media channels. From family festivals with street performers and child-friendly activities to live music gigs, there’s something for all tastes.

New for 2024 is DocksFest featuring an electrifying line up of live bands with great street food and bars to the Meridian Showground, Cleethorpes in July. The line up includes headliner Razorlight, plus Frank Turner, Feeder, The Lottery Winners, Afflecks Palace, Orphan Boy, and HEALER and is hosted by Lloyd Griffith.

Festival of the Sea is held in June in Grimsby. The festival showcases a free programme of vibrant street theatre, live music and dance. A firm favourite for many visitors is the Cleethorpes Armed Forces Weekend, taking place in June each year.

For music lovers The Gathering festival returns to the Meridian Showground in June for it’s 5th Birthday Celebrations. Enjoy 60+ artists across 5 arenas plus food, Fun Fair, stalls and 10 hours of music. Another regular appearance in Cleethorpes is Fake Festival with a jam-packed line up of tunes you’ll know and love.

Check out the events taking place at Meridian Showground. Located right next to a campsite and within walking distance to Thorpe Park Holiday Centre and Cleethorpes Pearl Holiday Park, you can get ready for a night of fun and be back for a kip afterwards in minutes. Watch live theatre at Grimsby Auditorium and Caxton Theatre, or make a special trip for the nationally-loved Armed Forces Day weekend-long celebrations.

What’s a trip to the seaside without fish and chips? You’ll be spoilt for choice as we have a fantastic range of eateries and traditional fish and chip shops serving this tasty dish.
