Play an augmented reality game
Created to encourage families, young and old, to get out and about and visit some of our lovely parks and open spaces, these virtual trails and games have been developed for use with a smart phone. Go on a Dinosaur Safari, step out on a Space Walk and discover the Tree Fairies. In the summer you can hunt the mega mini beasts. In the autumn we enjoy playing the Halloween Dance Trail and through the winter months, you can hunt for Winter Woodland Fairies. With various locations to play the games, it’s ideal for getting some fresh air and stretching the limbs whilst you explore the parks and gardens in North East Lincolnshire.
Discover Heritage Trails
For those who love local history, discover three fantastic heritage trails on the App. Wander around Cleethorpes Town Centre and Grimsby Town Centre and learn fascinating history and see old photographs of buildings as they once used to look. In Immingham, walk the Pilgrims Trail and learn about the town’s link to the Mayflower Pilgrims.
Walk a Mindfulness Trail
Why not walk the relaxing Mindfulness Trail? Listen to soothing audio as you wander around one of our beautiful parks and gardens. Tune in and tune out!

Getting started
To get started, download the Love Exploring App and discover our parks, woodlands, gardens and coastline as you find winter fairs or hunt for the dinosaurs.
You can check out the exact locations for the games and trails when you go on the App but we have games in Cleethorpes along the Prom and Pier Gardens area and the Boating Lake, Meridian and the coastal path area plus Cleethorpes Country Park. In Grimsby, head to People’s Park, Weelsby Woods and Grant Thorald Park. In Immingham, check out Homestead Park and Roval Drive play area.
We’d love to see your photos! You can take a selfie with a Dino, Mini Beast, Planet or Fairy with the in-built photo-taker (and you can save them to your photo reel). Tag us in on any images you share on social media using #discovernel and we’ll share our favourites.
