When promoters and event organisers want to host a large-scale event in Northern Lincolnshire, they come to Meridian Showground.

Located towards the south of Cleethorpes, just a pebble’s throw away from the beach, lies the dedicated purpose-built outdoor events arena.

It’s the home of a variety of events, many of which return year after year due to overwhelmingly popular demand. The Showground plays host to numerous events throughout the year, from sporting events to festivals and outdoor cinema nights.

Here at Meridian Showground we aim to work in conjunction with independent promoters and event organisers to stage world class entertainment with a varied and eclectic range of events throughout the year for the entertainment of the local populace, visiting tourists and to draw visitors from outside the traditional catchment area.

Meridian Showground Events Arena was designed to be open plan, allowing promoters and organisers to design a bespoke layout for their event, this also allows for a much wider range of events as possible and can accommodate all kinds of open-air entertainment in the 16,000m2 space. There is a three-story control tower with a box office, office space, PA system, first aid and lost children’s support area and two balconies overlooking the arena and queueing areas at the entrance.

Site Services

The site consists of a three story control tower incorporating

  • 1st aid/lost children’s point
  • Radio control/ELT room

  • balcony overlooking the walkup/queuing area

Either side of the control tower (gates D & E) are intended as the main public entry points, another further 3 gates (A, B & C) depending on event layout, can be used as production/emergency gates.

2 permanent toilet blocks (inc male, female, disabled) these will accommodate a crowd of up to 5000. Each toilet block also has a single shower unit (intended for staff/crew use).

There are 4 permanent tower lights in the arena.

A sound bund has been constructed to the West and North West sections of the perimeter, to decrease the instances of noise pollution to any local residences.

A permanent internal service road around the main large field.

The grass area internal of the service road is approximately 16,000m2, the areas external of the service road are intended for use by concessions units.

All outlets are individually MCB and RCD protected. Any combination of these outlets may be used but within the maximum allowed of 200a 3ph per supply.

Concession Power

There are 9 pods around the site which are available to power concessions, each pod contains a mains water supply and 4 x 16a 1ph outlets

Parking is available within numerous local authority pay and display facilities, the nearest is within 500m with a 1700 vehicle capacity.

Getting to Meridian Showground is easy. By road, you travel along the A180, A46 or A16 with sign posts leading you to the venue once you reach town. A TransPennine Express train makes its way into Cleethorpes station every hour, travelling from Manchester through Sheffield, Doncaster, Scunthorpe, and nearby villages. For visitors travelling by bus, there are bus stops just outside the arena.

For accommodation, you’ll find a newly-built Premier Inn opposite the showground and several B&Bs and smaller hotels towards the centre of Cleethorpes. Next door to the arena lies Cleethorpes Showground camping site for caravans and motorhomes and the Beachcomber holiday park as well as Haven’s Thorpe Park. In the wider North East Lincolnshire area, you’ll find luxury and country house hotels, as well as self-catering lodges and cottages.
