As a grassroots venue, Docks Academy is proud to support emerging musical talent from all corners of Humberside, and beyond. We are delighted to be working with BBC Introducing on Radio Humberside for this event which sees three artists performing on the Docks Academy stage in front of a live audience on Friday 4th November. The event will be recorded and played out on BBC Radio Humberside on Saturday 5th November as part of the National BBC Introducing Live day. The artists featured on the night are:

Last Of The Wonder Kids

Bouncing between post-punk and lo-fi indie rock, Grimsby’s Last of the Wonder Kids are quickly mastering the art of mixing fuzzy melodies, infectious hooks, and massive reverb-soaked guitar riffs.

Drawing on decades of influences and by focussing on mixing sweet and sour elements, the band seek to create something unique yet familiar, contemporary yet classic, euphoric yet chaotic.

Having toured extensively since their formation and with several major festivals under their belt, the four-piece have been celebrated by the likes of BBC 6Music Recommends and BBC Introducing across the UK for their songwriting, high-energy live shows and lyrics of life and love in a small northern town.

JT

Hull rapper JT burst onto the Hull music scene in 2021 and hasn’t looked back since with a Track of the Week on BBC Radio 1Xtra and a storming set at this year’s Humber Street Sesh in Hull.

Performing with DJ faded, JT will bring a mix of his clever lyrics and infectious beats to the Docks Academy stage.

Lola’s Dream

Lola (aka Louise Connor) has had extensive airplay on BBC Introducing on Radio Humberside, 6 Music and also played the BBC Introducing Stage at Latitude Festival. She mixes gorgeous vocals, with guitar, loops and pedals to create a dreamy soundscape of electronic sounds.

Since its launch in 2007, BBC Music Introducing has been dedicated to discovering and supporting new music. 58% of the acts that performed at Reading + Leeds Festival in 2017 initially uploaded their music to the BBC Music Introducing Uploader. These acts potentially would not have become the beloved household names they are without the BBC Introducing, so come and support independent, emerging talent this November!
