Grimsby Top Town Market

Did you know there has been a market in Grimsby for over 800 years?

Locals are very proud of the market’s long standing history which once saw it as the mainstay of economic life in North East Lincolnshire.

The market still has its place in the current day with 81 stalls and nine units selling fresh, local, quality produce from experienced traders who offer personal service which we sometimes lose when shopping with large retailers. Our traders can recommend what is in season and the best way to cook it with a smile on their face, which sees regular customers visit time and time again.

The market also offers a wide range of non-food stalls including shoes, clothing, gifts, key cutting services, electrical goods, homeware and a number of unique stalls when you are looking for something different.

The main market hall is open four days a week from 9am to 4pm on a Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Located next to Freshney Place Shopping Centre, there are entrances from Freshney Place as well as on Bull Ring Lane and Victoria Street.

The Food Hall offers quality cooked food and can be accessed via Freshney Place six days a week from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday.

Freeman Street Market

Established in 1873, Freeman Street Market has sat on the same one-acre site for nearly 150 years. Freeman Street was a bustling hub of commercial activities. Shops, pubs, cinemas and the market thrived because of the fishing industry.

Over the last 100 years, the market has changed but its biggest transformation took place in 2014 when the Enrolled Freemen invested in its redevelopment. They fitted a brand new floor, new lighting and new facilities to hold a variety of local businesses. In addition to a colourful and vibrant community space, they also created the Business & Digital Hub, home to many organisations and meeting room space.

Freeman Street Market has served the great people of Great Grimsby for over a century with Lincolnshire’s finest freshly harvested produce. Quality fish, Lincolnshire pork and beef, fresh flowers, confectionery and great gift ideas.

Free parking for up to 2 hours is available at Thesiger Street Car park or you can pay just £2 for the whole day. There are also 1-hour free car parking spaces around the market.

The Market hosts free community, family-friendly events throughout the year, including craft fairs, record fairs, local musicians, Christmas events and the extremely popular Great Grimsby Food Fight.
